What this calculator does
Enter full expressions such as sin(30) + log(1000) + 2^10. Functions, constants and implicit multiplication like 2π are supported.
Formula and method
Precedence: unary minus < ^ (right-associative) so −2^2 = −4 and 2^3^2 = 512. log is base 10, ln is natural log, log(x, b) uses base b.
Worked example
Calculated by this tool with its default inputs:
Inputs
- Expression: sin(30) + log(1000) + 2^10
- Angle unit: Degrees
Results
- Result: 1,027.5
How to read the results
Domain errors (e.g. ln of a negative number, tan 90°) are reported rather than returning misleading values.
Assumptions and limitations
- Factorials are exact up to 170!; larger values overflow standard number precision — use the factorial calculator for exact big factorials.
Questions
Degrees or radians?
Choose with the angle selector; it affects sin, cos, tan and their inverses.
Methodology and verification
- Result type
- Exact mathematical calculation (rounded only for display)
- Formula version
- 1.0
- Automated verification
- 9 reference and validation test cases, checked against independently computed values. The site cannot be built if any of them fail.
- Editorial review
- Awaiting human editorial review. The explanation was drafted with AI assistance; the formula and examples are verified by the automated tests above.
